How long will the huddle take?

The huddles usually take less than 15 minutes.

How much notice will we get for the huddle?

We hope to contact your office the day before (if not earlier) to coordinate scheduling the huddle. For patients enrolled after office hours (including on the weekend), we will call the office first thing in the morning.

How do I bill this visit?/Do I bill for this visit?

Primary care providers are unable to bill when patients are still hospitalized, but please work with the division of hospital medicine which can provide an incentive for your time. You can bill through your normal processes for the post-discharge huddle.

What’s the dot phrase?

.dischargehuddle can be used if your practice is on Cincinnati Children’s Epic.

What appointment type do we use when adding it to our schedule?

We suggest that practices using Children’s Epic schedule as a Telehealth Visit. Other practices can choose whatever type works best for their system.

If I am unavailable on the date of the discharge huddle, can one of my associates participate?

Yes! We would obviously love to have the assigned PCP participate, but any provider in the practice may join and assist in coordinating the patient’s care.

Why am I receiving a survey?

We are trying to understand how much time primary care offices spend taking care of medically complex children in the discharge process. You will receive a $20 gift card for your time if you complete the survey.
